Neutral desk & screen setup

eye level = top of screen~arm's length
The fix

Top of screen at eye level, about an arm's length away, forearms level.

Why it happens

When the screen is too low or close, you compensate with your neck and eyes. Correct height and distance let the skeleton do the holding, not the muscles.

If you ignore it

A good setup is the single highest-leverage change — it prevents the strain rather than treating it.
